Iron Hitai-ate kabuto ,Edo period

This is a rare kabuto from the Bakumatsu period signed Myochin Munehira a Hitai-ate also called hachigane kabuto .Shonai group,Dewa province.

Exeptionnal Samurai kabuto from the late Edo period circa 1860.

Munehira was a master armorer of the renowded Shonai group in Dewa.This kabuto is composed of 4 pieces with a small mabisashi .Iron ball with original sliding visor, iron plate locking system and untouched aged patina.

This kabuto was crafted during the Bakumatsu civil war period a time of intense conflict between pro-imperial and Shogunate forces.

Double mei on the front plate : Myochin Munehira saku and Amaterasu O okami.Dedication and /or protection by Godess of the sun.
