This is an early hanbo ,from the Momoyama-early Edo periods, Sengoku-Jidai period in Japan.

An iron piece with very old patina with rare wide-mouth and cheek form ,hand-hammered black lacquered and later kin-paku, gilded.

The tare,yodare-kake is also in iron with same treatment black lacquered and later gilded.With 3 lames,plates and purple odoshi lacing in sugake.

Trace of age patina and red relaquered interior mask.
